My guess is that the error message is more broken than the rest
of afslog. Does "-v" get you more info? It might be something
else that goes wrong.

/usr/heimdal/bin/kauth and afslog against a heimdal v5 kdc

I don't think it is necessary to build statically. The test machine is
(not mine but the owner frequents the same espresso machine)
Darwin rasmus.kthnoc.net 7.5.0 Darwin Kernel Version 7.5.0: Thu Aug 5
19:26:16 PDT 2004; root:xnu/xnu-517.7.21.obj~3/RELEASE_PPC Power
Macintosh powerpc
I happend to copy the tar files to
ftp://ftp.pdc.kth.se/pub/heimdal/powerpc-apple-darwin7.5.0/heimdal-20040914.tar.gz
/afs/pdc.kth.se/public/ftp/pub/heimdal/powerpc-apple-darwin7.5.0/heimdal-20040914.tar.gz
and
ftp://ftp.stacken.kth.se/pub/arla/binaries/0.37/MacOS-10.3.5/arla.tar.gz
/afs/stacken.kth.se/ftp/pub/arla/binaries/0.37/MacOS-10.3.5/arla.tar.gz
The contents should end up in /usr/heimdal and /usr/arla (unpack in /usr).
"Works for at least one person" - your mileage may vary.
Harald.
