It might be worth noting that to properly un-install OpenAFS you will 
probably have to 'rm -rf' /Library/StartupItems/OpenAFS/ and 
/var/db/openafs/ as well as removing the links to afs in the 
filesystem.  I am not sure if this is causing your problems, but 
getting it all off might help.
