arla-0.90 on linux-2.6.19 (debian)

I tried, this is what happened:

  # /etc/init.d/arla stop
  Killing arlad... arlad didn't die
  # ps -fe |grep arla
  root      3967     1  0 Jan11 ?        00:12:57 [arlad] <defunct>

Also kill -9 3967 seems to have no effect whatsoever. Seems I have to
reboot.
