Kerberos vs AFS configurations.  You need to get Kerberos configured  
first.

I put a symlink from /etc/krb5.conf to /Library/Preferences/ 
edu.mit.Kerberos before playing with the config.  Once you get both / 
usr/bin/kinit and /usr/arla/kinit to work you should be (mostly) OK.
