nothing but afs pings?

Suddenly, all the amd64_linux26 hosts (and one i386_linux26 host) I have
running arla, which has been running fine for months, is hanging on afs
with the only packets like so:

21:46:34.487776 IP cornholio.qualcomm.com.7001 >
afs-rtp-1.qualcomm.com.7000: rx ack first 1 serial 183 reason ping (50)
21:46:34.557306 IP afs-rtp-1.qualcomm.com.7000 >
cornholio.qualcomm.com.7001: rx ack first 1 serial 184 reason ping
response acked 16777216 (66)
21:46:38.488858 IP cornholio.qualcomm.com.7001 >
afs-rtp-1.qualcomm.com.7000: rx ack first 1 serial 184 reason ping (50)
21:46:38.559159 IP afs-rtp-1.qualcomm.com.7000 >
cornholio.qualcomm.com.7001: rx ack first 1 serial 185 reason ping
response acked 16777216 (66)
21:46:42.489872 IP cornholio.qualcomm.com.7001 >
afs-rtp-1.qualcomm.com.7000: rx ack first 1 serial 185 reason ping (50)
21:46:42.559392 IP afs-rtp-1.qualcomm.com.7000 >
cornholio.qualcomm.com.7001: rx ack first 1 serial 186 reason ping
response acked 16777216 (66)

anyone know what might cause that? I've got our AFS admins looking at
the server (the servers are transarc servers on solaris), but I'm trying
things on the clients too. Restarting arla, clearning the cache before
starting, etc... doesn't seem to help.

Your family are the people who cut you the most slack and give you the most
chances. I mean, when Richard Dawson says "Name something you find in a
refrigerator" and you say "A dictionary" and the rest of America is
screaming
"You moron!" at their TV sets, who's clapping and saying "Good answer! Good
answer!"? Your family, that's who. ==> Dennis Miller on Families.
