See if you problem goes away if you replace
/Library/StartupItems/Arla/Arla with
ftp://ftp.stacken.kth.se/pub/arla/binaries/0.35.10/MacOS-10.2/Library-StartupItems-Arla-Arla
or
/afs/stacken.kth.se/ftp/pub/arla/binaries/0.35.10/MacOS-10.2/Library-StartupItems-Arla-Arla.

As of 0.35.10, we don't install klog by default.

We have received a number of bug reports that we haven't been able to
solve, or haven't had the time to solve. Since we don't want to
support that program, we don't install it. If it works for you, you
can use it, but in my experience, it doesn't work very well.

I would recommend using kauth, since that's what we use, and it's the
supported way of getting tokens.
