Linux problem in 0.35.9

RH 7.3, with RH's 2.4.18-5.

My very first attempt to "cd /afs/..." was met with about 4000 of
these pairs of messages in the 6 seconds before I hit ^C, which got me
out of the attempt with "Interrupted system call."

Downgraded back to something safe for now...
