Configuration funny

A friend tried installing yesterday's MacOS X binary snapshot.  We 
can't get it to look at the JPL cell.  We changed 
/usr/arla/etc/ThisCell to match what I put in /usr/local/etc/ThisCell 
for my source-built pre2 installation but it still mounts the kth top 
level.  Authentication works fine.

Suggestions?  I assume this behavior is typical if the ThisCell file 
is unreadable, but it's owned by root.wheel and world readable like 
everything else in that directory.
