I change the last line from 

mount -t xfs arla /afs  

to 

mount -t xfs /dev/xfs0 /afs   


and it works sometimes, but on at least one occasion nothing has appeared 
under /afs. The command: umount /afs; mount -t xfs /dev/xfs0 /afs has
fixed it however.
