First attempt with arla-0.6

I wrote:

At first this produced a different error; ls -l /afs produced

 ?---------

and a file command said the field was set completely to 0s.
I then rebooted the system and tried again, which now
produces:

avl 18:08:17 > lsmod
Module         Pages    Used by
xfs                6            2
...
avl 18:08:23 > mount
...
/dev/xfs0 on /afs type xfs (rw)
avl 18:08:24 > ls /afs
avl 18:08:31 > ls /afs/
ls: /afs/: Not a directory
avl 18:08:33 > ls -ld /afs
drwxr-xr-x   0 8192     root            2 Jan  1  1970 /afs
avl 18:08:38 >

This is about the same as the first set of errors.
