I've seen a case where a Solaris host with local IP filters reject
fragmented UDP packets, even though the fragmented UDP packet was
destined to a non-filtered port. This caused the client (which was vos
from OpenAFS, but I suppose it might apply to any RX-based software) to
have abysmal performance, but it still worked. Something to look out for
after the ports have been opened (if the above mentioned problem is
really caused by a firewall).
