Can't compile 0.40 on linux 2.6.14

I get the attached error when I try compiling Arla 0.40 (patched
according to abo, i.e.,
<http://www.stacken.kth.se/lists/arla-drinkers/2005-07/msg00008.html>)
with the new Gentoo kernel (2.6.14-gentoo-r2). I used the same patched
source to build and use Arla successfully against an older Gentoo kernel
(2.6.12-gentoo-r6). Any ideas?
