As I've pointed out in the past, you cannot expect an arbitrary
Makefile to successfully build a FreeBSD kernel module.  You *must*
use the kernel's module-build infrastructure.  If you look in the
archives of this list you'll find my patches for 0.38 which include a
replacement Makefile that does the correct thing.
