Do you have some kind of kth-krb or heimdal installed? In some
configurations they have a des.h that messes things up. Possible solution
in that case is
configure LIBS=-lcrypto CPPFLAGS='-DBIND_8_COMPAT -DHAVE_OPENSSL'
