>The Kerberos tools that come with MacOS X all seem to be Kerberos 5.

The Kerberos for Macintosh which ships with Mac OS X 10.1 and 10.2
has support for both Kerberos 4 and Kerberos 5. However, Kerberos
for Macintosh uses a unified configuration file format for both
Kerberos 4 and 5. You can find documentation for setting up the
configuration file here:
<http://web.mit.edu/macdev/Development/MITKerberos/Common/Documentation/preferences.html>

If you wish to build arla against the Kerberos which ships in Mac OS
X, you need krbafs. Krbafs is a version of the kafs library (which
comes with kth-krb) which works against MIT Kerberos. You can find
krbafs here <http://web.mit.edu/openafs/krbafs/>.  I believe
instructions for building arla against krbafs are included in the
arla documentation.

Hope this helps,
