Mirroring arla has become difficult

Recently, the ftpd at stacken has stopped accepting command-line
switches to ls like so:

ftp> ls -l
200 PORT command successful.
150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for '/bin/ls'.
/bin/ls: -l: No such file or directory

This makes mirroring (at least via LJM's mirror package) impossible.
Any chance it could be turned back on?
