No.  I use arla in an environment involving PPP, CIPE (VPN tunneling),
and IPmasq.  No problems such as you describe, either on the gate host
or on the hosts masq'd behind the gate.

On the other hand, you might want to make sure you invoke arlad with
the --fake-mp option.
