memory leak?

Hello All,
    This morning I installed the Jan 10 snapshot of
arla on a machine running the 2.2.0-pre6 Linux kernel.
I did builds this morning on the machine and everthing
seemed to work pretty well.  This afternoon when I
returned from lunch the console of the machine was
littered with messages of the form:

xterm: out of memory
telnetd: out of memory

and I could not log in.  I rebooted and everything
seems fine.  I guess I will see in a few hours whether
it really is or not.  I have no idea of this has
anything to do with arla or not, but I thought I would
check to see if anyone else on this list has seen this
problem since it may be related to arla.
