Linux w/ smp - is it necessary to build arla special?

I'm sorry, but the kernel module is compiled differently, since the
locking macros look different in SMP and non-SMP (the interprocessor
locking is removed on non-SMP kernels).

It is however, possible to run an SMP kernel on a UP machine.
