weird error

Haven't futher diagnosed this but this was very strange:

troot-infinity(211)> cp DBStore.pm ~hdqa/libs/HDQA/
cp: `DBStore.pm' and `/afs/umr.edu/software/hdqa/libs/HDQA/DBStore.pm' are
the same file
troot-infinity(212)> pwd
/afs/umr.edu/software/hdqa/testlibs/HDQA
troot-infinity(213)> cp ~hdqa/testlibs/HDQA/DBStore.pm ~hdqa/libs/HDQA/


If I fully qualified both, it worked ok.
