the permissions ?--------- indicate a dead inode, which means that xfs
cannot contact arla to get the root xfs_node. When you do 'mount', xfs
must be able to speak to arla, or that root inode will appear.

If you switch on debugging in xfs (change the x to X in
xfs/linux/xdeb.c), you will see what it is trying to do.

Many of the fs commands aren't implemented in xfs and arla, so you won't
have much luck with it.
