When: 2024-03-23, 19:00 CET Where: Svartbäcksgatan 65, 753 33 Uppsala Stream: https://bbb.cryptoparty.se/b/upd-0mo-m2u-aq8 Forth – Your favourite programming language that you don't know yet The talk introduces Forth, a curious programming language that quite possibly doesn't look like any other language you have seen. Despite never quite making it into the mainstream in its 54-year life so far, it has made it into space on several occasions, including on the ESA asteroid-lander Philae, the NASA Saturn probe Cassini, and the Swedish satellite Freja. Both a language and an interactive development environment, Forth takes a minimalist approach to syntax (there isn't any) and provides maximum flexibility for you to develop your own application-specific languages very close to the hardware. It's hard not to like it! Bjarni Juliusson (Update) The lecture is free and open to everyone. Don't want to miss upcoming events? Subscribe to our low-traffic announcement list here[2]!
